The short version

You upload a manuscript, we format it, you download the result. Free files are deleted after 24 hours; unlocked files after 30 days. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your writing to train any model.

What we collect

  • The file you upload, plus the formatted PDF and DOCX we generate from it.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address, used only to enforce the upload rate limit. We do not store the address itself.
  • Your email address, only if you choose to sign in or make a purchase.
  • Payment records — the amount, currency, and Stripe identifiers for a purchase. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.
  • Error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it.

What reaches the AI model

We use Anthropic's Claude to work out your manuscript's structure — where chapters begin, which lines are scene breaks, and which sections are ambiguous enough to ask you about.

To do that we send a structural outline rather than your manuscript: for each paragraph or heading, its position, its formatting tag, and the first 120 characters of its text. Full chapters of prose are not sent. The model is never asked to write, rewrite, edit, or assess your writing, and its output is limited to structural labels and formatting settings.

Anthropic does not train models on data submitted through their API.

How long we keep files

  • Free files: 24 hours from upload, then deleted from storage and our database.
  • Unlocked files: 30 days from purchase.
  • Payment records are kept longer, because tax and accounting rules require it.

After expiry a file is immediately unreachable, and a scheduled job removes the stored bytes.

Who else processes your data

We rely on these providers to run the service:

  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery
  • Supabase — database, file storage, sign-in links
  • Railway — the service that converts and renders your document
  • Anthropic — structure detection, as described above
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Sentry — error reporting

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your files or account at any time, and ask for a copy of what we hold about you. Most of it deletes itself on the schedule above. Write to us at the address on the contact page.
